Curious About Craft, Craftspace, 2009
Craftspace created a mobile exhibition travelling to 40 wards in Birmingham from Sept 2010 to March 2011, giving local people the opportunity to see and take part in craft with a difference. Curious about Craft explored craftivism – the contemporary approach which uses craft to encourage connections between people and to express the issues they care about. I was invited to run darning events in the van. It was a brilliant space, everyone was welcome and we met great people, encountered a very fine and difficult hole (a tiny burnt hole from ironing in a wedding sari) and heard some lovely stories about craft and making by grandmas and uncles.
